Group & Individual Project

Outcome: In a group of 6 people, produce a slide report presentation and 15-20 minutes of verbal presentation. Individually prepare a presentation slide and 3-5 minutes of pre-recorded video presentation.

The objective of this assignment is to introduce students to the basic principles and concepts of heritage conservation and the proper method or approach applied to heritage buildings. For example, adaptive reuse, preservation, reconstruction and replication, restoration, and rehabilitation.

Secondly, based on one of the buildings. individually students are required to discuss their thoughts on one of the 7 lamps of architecture by John Ruskin.

Individual Project

Outcome: produce a presentation slide and 15-20 minutes of verbal presentation.

The objective of this project is to introduce students to the basic principles and concepts of heritage conservation and documentation according to proper types of conservation from ICOMOS and JWN. Secondly, to identify the key principle and theories that shaped the practices and problems in the area of heritage and conservation.

The aim is to prepare a Heritage and Conservation Proposal Report on the given heritage buildings at Sungai Buluh Leprosarium. According to the clients need to make improvements and add toilets and a kitchen without losing the character of the existing chalet.
